The below methods detail how to install Permanent Custom Firmware. Only do this if your PSP supports it and you know what you're doing; Temporary CFW is enough for most people.
Note: At this moment, we recommend PRO-C rather than PRO-C2, since C2 has some crippling bugs with PSX emulation; and no one seems to be around to fix it.

Glossary[edit]
LCFW[edit]
LCFW is a temporary CFW exploit that gives you all the features of a permanent CFW, but is lost whenever the PSP runs out of power. It only takes three seconds to reinstall it, though.
LCFW is the safest method of installing CFW since it works on every PSP motherboard and will never result in a brick.
Official Firmware is 6.60[edit]
Official Firmware below 6.60[edit]
6.20 Permapatch[edit]
[[#ref_This method is only for people who absolutely cannot wait three seconds to recover CFW when the PSP runs out of power. Otherwise, we strongly recommend using LCFW, an easier method where there is no risk of bricking your PSP!|^]]
On the 6.20 firmware, there is a unique exploit that allows permapatching on some newer PSPs.
Don't worry about issues with using an older version; the features have mostly been backported, and 6.20 PRO-C2 uses a convenient exploit to run 6.60 ISOs.
These PSPs can only use 6.20 permapatching and LCFW:
It is also possible to use 6.20 permapatch on PSPs that support cIPL, though it is obviously not needed.
Official Firmware 6.20 or Above[edit]
Official Firmware 6.20[edit]
Below Official Firmware 6.20[edit]
Chronoswitch 6.20 Permapatch[edit]
Compatible with these motherboards ONLY:
DO NOT USE Chronoswitch with other motherboards, such as TA-095v1 (07g) or TA-095v2 (07g) .
Downgrade to 6.20[edit]
The Chronoswitch downgrade works by changing your PSP Model setting in flash0, bypassing security features that block 6.20 OFW. Due to security reasons, all browser settings (homepage, etc.) will be deleted, since flash1 has to be wiped in the process; make sure to back those up.
Once you've downgraded using Chronoswitch, you can now follow the instructions to install the 6.20 Permapatch.
Upgrading past 6.20 after Chronoswitch[edit]
After installing 6.20 Chronoswitch, you will need to use a special app to update to 6.35 or 6.60 if you so choose. (need to find that app)
However, this is not recommended or helpful, since 6.20 PRO-C contains all the features of 6.60, and has patches that allow 6.60 games to be played.
Chronoswitch is now working for all PSP motherboards except PSP GO
cIPL[edit]
cIPL supports:
cIPL does not support any other PSP motherboards.
All of the cIPL compatible PSPs are also capable of using LCFW and 6.20 Permapatch (though cIPL is preferred).
Official Firmware is 6.60[edit]
Official Firmware below 6.60 or using CFW M33/Dark AleX[edit]
Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN or 5.50 Prometheus 4[edit]
Templates[edit]
To reduce redundancy, we've placed all the instructions from above into templates, that can be edited below.

Hello there. Is there somebody who can help me or can tell me if it's possible? My son and daughter's PsP is updated to 6.60, i used the Pro-b9 to play our iso true the pro memory stick. But it's only 4 gb. Before this firmware update i had the 5.00 m33-3 working and also hostcore working to play with usb cable and iso on the pc.But now i can't get hostcore to work if downloaded hostcore 1.2.1. Enabled the plugin true the recovery menu.
But still i can't get the button to switch to USB or wifi. I thought maybe reset PSP (off and On again) but then the psp goes out again. Again i pushed it on, and goes of again. I readed to remove the sd from psp. And that worked, so i formatted the sd again and tryed over with hostcore.
But again the same.can anyone tell me is hostcore works with the 6.60 pro-B9 or do i have to wait. Is there a ohter way to play true usb?Psp infoPSP-1003Date code 6ANo pandora battery6.60 Pro-B9Thx!! Updated to 6.60 pro-c now, tryed hostcore, but when i enable hostcore in recovery menu/plugins and go back, i can hit every button on the psp but the menu to choose usb or wifi doesn't come.
I've set it to the L-trigger. Then when i put the psp off and on again, again the psp goes autom.
Off, when i put it on again it goes off. Grrrr, then i remove the sd card and it starts, i see that the psp as changed the startup screen of sony(i always put it off) but it automaticly goes on again after i installed Hostcore, when i disable hostcore again in recovery menu and put hte psp of and on it goes normally on. So i think hostcore is the problem. I go try usb loader now. I think you said it, also Copy cygwin1.dll to your windows/system32 folder!
This file i can't find in my system32 folder. But i also didn't read that.
I readed a other tut about that, because i use win7 64bit now, i had to download the Psp B driver 64bit and that was hard to find on inet. But found one true torrent.
Its also a differend one than you said because the file cygwin1.dll isn't in my 64bit driver map i have a libusb0.dll or a libusb0x64.dll can it be that i have to put the libusb0x64.dll in my system32 folder?EDIT:libusb0x64.dll is in my system32 folderYES USB loader Working.:PIt was the driver i told u, i did a driver update of it, true the system settings of win7. It working now THX!!!!!!!
